  1. Strawberry Cold Cake

Bake any white cake mix in a 9X13 pan. Let cool and leave in pan. When cool, punch about 50-60 holes all over the cake.

Prepare a box of instant sugar free strawberry jello. Pour jello all over top of cake letting it run into the holes.

Use 1 large container of lowfat cool whip and spread all over top of cake.

Refrigerate for 1 hour. Now how easy is that?
A great cool light summer dessert.
AND YES SUSAN--You can use all ALDI Brands.
By the way, what are you doing with all this extra money you are saving by buying off brand? i know, putting it in the gas tank!!
    Have a great weekend.

  2. Susan-Do you have a recipe for the crunchy slaw that has the almonds and roman noodles in it? I have all the basics like slaw mix, almonds, carrots, and uncooked noodles, but I need the soupy part. Thanks

  3. Toni - That's my favorite and I know Susan's recipe (or almost her recipe) by heart.

    You need:
2 packages of oriental-flavor Ramen noodles
    1 small bag slivered almonds
    1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    4 to 6 tablespoons sugar
Salt and pepper to taste (I use a tablespoon of pepper and 2 teaspoons of salt.)
    Shredded cabbage

Crush the Ramen noodles and put them on a baking sheet with the almonds mixed in.
Toast in the oven until brown.

    For dressing:
Mix the vinegar, oil, salt, pepper, sugar and both seasoning packages from the Ramen noodles (the noodle packets are the most important ingredient. The slaw is just not the same without it)
The dressing is best if made the night before and refrigerated but it's still good if made the day you're serving.

Top the shredded cabbage with the toasted noodles and almonds. Pour dressing on top just before serving.

  4. Ragan,-Thanks so much. I will have this on the 4th. Looks like Susan is on a little vacation. Do you think she will be surprised that we carried on without her?
